Here’s How to Get Rid of Babies and Pregnancy in The Sims 4
The Sims 4 is a life simulation game, which means that it can accurately, to some extent, offer some of the most important life experiences. One of these experiences is pregnancy. As you know, you can have a child in Sims 4. You can raise it and even send it to college. Especially caring Sims can develop their parenting skill and enjoy all kinds of family experiences. But what happens if you don’t want a child in Sims 4 and the dreaded “eating for two” buff just appears? Is there a way to get rid of pregnancy and babies in Sims 4?
It was possible to get rid of pregnancy in Sims 4 with the “remove_all_buffs” cheat. However, that cheat, along with many other pregnancy cheats, was removed from the game in June 2018 patch. So currently, there’s no way to get rid of pregnancy or speed it up. However, you can remove the baby from your household as soon as it’s born by enabling cheats and choosing the “starves baby” option or simply transferring the baby to another household through the “edit household” option.
Now that we’ve covered that you can’t skip the pregnancy part as easily as we would’ve liked. It’s time to analyze what our other options are when it comes to removing babies from your household. If you’re interested in more, stay with us and keep reading!
Can you get rid of a pregnancy in Sims 4?
Babies are hard work in Sims 4, and the older they are, the more expensive and time-consuming their upbringing becomes. While your Sim is pregnant, you are barred from doing some regular activities such as intensive training and socializing with alcohol.
Pregnancy does not last long, it’s mere three days on average, but it has life-long consequences for your Sim, so it makes sense that some players would like to get rid of it completely.
Prior to the June 2018 patch, it was possible to stop pregnancy by using the “remove_all_buffs” cheat. This cheat would remove all current negative and positive effects from your Sim as well as pregnancy. Your Sim would act as if nothing happened and would continue with its life as usual. When Sim becomes ready for a child, pregnancy could likewise be restarted with the “sims.add_buff Buff_Pregnancy_InLabor ” cheat.
This cheat would skip all stages of pregnancy and put your selected Sim right to the phase where it is ready to deliver the baby skipping all morning sicknesses and negative buffs that come with pregnancy. Sadly, those two cheats were removed from the game with the update in June 2018 due to being game-breaking.
You can still attempt to use those cheats, but nothing will happen, and the pregnancy will resume as normal.
If you’re thinking about going into CAS and modifying your Sim to become “elder” through cheats, which would effectively terminate the pregnancy, this won’t work either because you are not able to modify pregnant Sims.
As things are standing currently, you can’t get rid of the pregnancy in Sims 4, at least not without mods.
There is a mod available for Sims 4 that allows you to terminate your pregnancy in Sims 4. It’s called “Miscarriage chance & Abortion,” and you can download it from this link.
This mod adds a chance to lose a pregnancy or to terminate it willingly, but your Sim will suffer from negative moodlets for a few days or hours as a consequence.
If you, however, don’t want to use any mods but want to get rid of the baby as soon as possible after it’s born, we have a solution for you.
How to get rid of a baby in Sims 4?
You can remove the baby from your household as soon as it’s born. You can do it through the “starves baby” debug option or through the “manage household” option. In the rest of this post, we’re going to explain both options.
Removing a baby from your household through “manage household” options
If you decide to remove the baby by simply moving it out from your household, you can transfer it to another character that you’re currently playing or any other random pre-existing household in Sims 4. By removing the baby through this option, you still get to keep a meaningful relationship with it through everyday interactions. To remove the baby from your household, follow these steps:
- Load your game.
- Select the household where your Sim has a baby.
- Click on the “manage household” option in the bottom right corner of the screen.
- A prompt will appear with other options available click on the “transfer Sims between the households” options.
- A prompt will appear through which you will have to choose the household to transfer your baby Sim.
- Choose the baby, and then choose your selected household to transfer the baby.
- To complete the action, confirm it by clicking on a green checkmark.
It’s easy as that. Your relationship with the baby will be intact, and if you desire so, you can still keep in touch. There is one more far darker option at our disposal, however.
Removing baby from your household by using cheats
You have the option to remove your baby from your household by using the “starves baby” debug option. This will place the baby in an immediate state of neglect, and it will be taken away by social services. To do that, follow these steps:
- Open the console by pressing CTRL+SHIFT+C.
- Type “testingCheats true .”This will activate the cheats.
- Approach the baby and SHIFT+CLICK it.
- A set of options will appear. One of them will be “starves baby.”
- Select the “starves baby” option, and your baby will be immediately taken away, leaving a message in the upper right corner of the screen and a negative debuff for your Sim to deal with.
When it comes to older children, you can get rid of them through the same approach only instead of the “starves baby” option; you will be able to use the “remove from family” option.
And that’s about it, as you can see there are plenty of ways to get rid of the baby, although we would like to suggest instead of starving it, maybe transfer it to a different household, that way you still get to see it, and you are spared from the negative debuff that results from your baby being taken away.
